As Avocado Trees are evergreen, light pruning can be done any time of the year. Heavy pruning should only be done in the early part of the year—January, February and March.
Pruning in spring encourages new growth, while pruning in winter controls tree size and shape.
Pruning keeps the trees short also more light shines into the trees which results in more fruit being borne on the lower branches.
