Each avocado variety matures at a different time of the year and at approximately the same time each year. If it has been an unusually cold or warm year it may cause variations of up to 3 weeks in maturity date.
Avocados are mature before picking, but not ready to eat. They ripen or soften after they have been harvested.
Now here is a list of avocados that are ready to be picked in January, remember picking time might vary 2-3 weeks depending on your yard micro-climate so first test one avocado before picking the rest.
Avocados ready for January Harvest: Fuerte - Bacon - Pinkerton - Ettinger - Zutano
